There'd been another gunfight, and although the sheriff knew it had been a fair fight, he'd insisted that they leave town as soon as possible. Now instead of soft beds, they were curled up in their bedrolls on the cold hard ground. Heyes woke with a start and glanced over to his partners’ empty bedroll. Sitting up it didn’t take long for him to spy the Kid’s hunched form silhouetted against the full moon. It was like this after every near fatal gunfight, He sighed knowing his friend needed this time to himself. He laid back…they’d talk about it tomorrow.
